Wildlife Stories - Scaredy Quails

As I went past on a trail, I inadvertently scared a quail family. They scattered, but the parents went one way and the chicks the other. The chicks ended up in a Hollyleaf Cherry tree to my right and the adults on a rock several feet in front of me. I stood still to watch and see what would happen. The dad kept making encouraging chirps to try and get the kids to come over to her. But they were too scared to move, I guess. He continued to move slowly to the right, and after about 5 minutes, the chicks decided it was safe to come out of the tree and run to mom and dad.
